Finally Spring!
And with the warm weather there are a few reminders for the summer season:
Community Yard Sale is scheduled for June 12th. From 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Last year one of your neighbors made over $1400 at this event. Now is the time to clean out those closets and garages to turn your no longer used items into $$$$.
Warmer weather means children at play. Please drive defensively and slow down. Remember children don’t always watch where they are going, so we have to.
We struggle each year with portable basket ball goals, Portable Basketball goals are allowed for use only in your driveway area, they may not be placed so that the participants are in any way in the roadways. (This is a city ordinance as well as a covenant violation, and is a fineable citation for the city of Indianapolis)
Unlicensed motorized vehicles on the roadways, this is another annual problem. Homeowners please remember our streets are city streets and off road equipment, (mini bikes, ATV’s etc.) should not be operated on these roads. This is a fineable offense and could result in the loss of the vehicle. It is also very unsafe for those on the off road equipment as well as those in passenger vehicles.
Vehicles that are not properly licensed with the state or inoperable are not allowed to be parked on the streets or in the community. It is not legal to have a vehicle that does not have current plates and in operable condition in plain view. The city of Indianapolis will respond to calls reporting such violations. They will tag these vehicles and allow only 48 hours to make corrections or they will tow them to impound. We are encouraging homeowners to contact Meridian Management if you see vehicles that have flat tires for an unreasonable amount of time, or appear to be not in operating condition. This is one way to help keep our community looking nice.
Trash Pick Up: Normal trash pick up is on Friday. You can put trash out on Thursday evening, but not any sooner. Friday evening all trash containers need to be removed from the street and placed out of view. The covenants state that trash cans are not to be stored where they can bee seen from the street. Please take the necessary steps to make sure this is done.
As you may be aware we have several vacant homes in our neighborhood, so we are asking that all homeowners make a concentrated effort to pick up any trash you see in the streets or papers and flyers laying in the lawns of these vacant homes. This small effort makes a huge impact on prospective buyers who drive through our community wondering, is this where I want to call home?
In an effort to make our community aesthetically pleasing window air conditioners are not allowed to be placed where they may be viewed from the street, this includes the side of your homes.
Your Board of Directors has applied for the TREE PROGRAM through the Keep Indianapolis Beautiful program. Trees are available for us to put in the common areas of our community at no charge to the association, other than the participation of volunteers to aid in doing the planting. This same program offers us the opportunity to help homeowner’s plant trees in front of their homes if they would like. These trees are available to be planted between the sidewalk and the roadways which is easement area for the community. The program asks only that you agree to water the tree on a regular basis for the next 3 spring – fall seasons. This is to ensure that the trees will survive.
We haven’t much time to get this information in to the KIBI program; We have to know who would like to participate in having a tree planted in front of their home by May 1, 2010. Please contact Barbara at Meridian at your earliest convenience if you want to participate.
VOLUNTEERS: We need to begin a list of homeowners who will be willing to assist in the planting of trees in the common areas. If your children are involved in any local scouting or community clubs that are interested in doing community service work for credit please see if you can get them involved. The May 1 dead line is for trees to be planted in the summer or early fall, so we will have plenty of time to get organized, we just need to know who we will be able to count on for labor. This is one of key elements to receiving the grant for this project, so please don’t hesitate to respond on this, call or send email to Barbara Brooks who will be helping us to coordinate this project.
Investment Properties: To those homeowners who have their property rented in Bridgeport Commons we ask that you supply your renters with a copy of the Covenants and Restrictions for our community. This will ultimately help you due to the fact that you are the responsible party if violations occur on your property. We also ask that you pass on this information regarding the Tree Program, we would like for them to have the opportunity to be involved in the community.
Any parent that has a child wishing to mow grass or do other small projects over the summer can post contact information on our web site, contact Barbara Brooks at Meridian Management by phone 262-4989 or at bbrooks@meridianmgmtcorp.com Contact information must be for the parent of the minor child.
It is almost May…….. Let’s get all those winter holiday decorations down and stored out of neighbors view.
Bridgeport Commons Board of Directors wants to use this as a first notice to all homeowners regarding keeping the lawns cut to a reasonable height. Lawns that are allowed to go uncut will be notified one additional time and if left undone the association will have the lawn cut at the owner’s expense.
HOMEOWNERS, please help us on this matter, if you see a home that appears vacant and the lawn has not been cut, please contact Meridian Management with the exact address. If there is a realtor sign in the yard it would be extremely helpful if you could report that contact phone number from that sign. This one phone call from you could save days in getting the matter corrected.
